Hi, I'm Nancy (she/her/她).
I am an Assistant Professor of Literacy/Social Studies in the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education at Queens College, City University of New York. I primarily teach undergraduate and graduate courses in elementary social studies methods as well as social foundations of education. My research focuses on justice-oriented K-12 social studies education and teacher education.

Born on the beautiful island of Taiwan ("Formosa"), I am bilingual in Mandarin and English. I identify as a woman of color from the Global South; this identity shapes my postcolonial/decolonial theoretical perspective and personal worldview. After graduating with an A.B. in International Relations from Brown University, I completed an Ed.M. in Learning and Teaching at Harvard Graduate School of Education and an Ed.D. in Curriculum Studies at Teachers College, Columbia University. I am proud that before my current position in higher education, I accumulated 15+ years of experience teaching secondary History/Social Studies, working with young people in other ways (e.g., as a college counselor, debate judge), and supporting school leaders and curriculum development in both the U.S. and China.
